Affiliate disclosure
We earn a commission when you buy through our links, and you pay exactly the same price. Here is the full detail of that arrangement, including how we choose what to recommend and why we so often tell people not to buy anything at all.
The disclosure, in plain English
BestAlarmClock.com makes money in two ways: advertising shown on our pages, and commissions from affiliate links.
When we link to a product, that link usually contains a tracking code. If you click it and then buy something, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket.
That is the whole arrangement. This page explains it in the detail that regulators, and reasonable readers, are entitled to expect.
FTC disclosure
This disclosure is provided in accordance with the United States Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255, Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.
BestAlarmClock.com has a material connection to the products it links to, in the form of affiliate commission. This connection exists for every outbound product link on this site unless we state otherwise. We disclose it here, in our site footer on every page, and adjacent to product links themselves.
Readers outside the United States: we apply the same standard everywhere. This also reflects the requirements of the UK Advertising Standards Authority and CAP Code, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, EU consumer protection law and the Australian Consumer Law.
Amazon Associates Programme
BestAlarmClock.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
We participate in Amazon's programmes in multiple regions where available. Amazon, the Amazon logo, AmazonSupply and the AmazonSupply logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Our Amazon Associates tracking identifier is mybargainshoe-20. You can see it in the URL of any
product link on this site if you hover over the link or inspect it — we do not use link cloaking or URL
shorteners to hide the fact that a link is an affiliate link.
Display advertising
We display advertising through Google AdSense. Advertisers pay Google, and Google pays us a share based on impressions and clicks. Advertisers have no influence over our editorial content and cannot buy placement in our recommendations. We do not publish sponsored posts, paid reviews or paid guest content.
How we choose what to recommend
Because we get paid when you buy, you are entitled to know how we decide what to put in front of you.
- No brand can pay to be included. We have never accepted payment, free product or any other consideration in exchange for a recommendation, and we will not.
- We start from the problem, not the product. Our product pages are organised by what you are trying to solve — waking a very heavy sleeper, waking without relying on hearing, teaching a child when morning starts — rather than by brand or by commission rate.
- We do not chase commission. A cheap clock and an expensive one pay us very differently. Our most-recommended budget option earns us well under a dollar per sale. It is still what we recommend, because it is what most people should buy.
- We say when you should not buy anything. Most people who cannot wake up need to move their alarm across the room and sleep half an hour longer, not spend money. Our guides say so repeatedly, including in the places where recommending a product would earn more.
- We are transparent about our limits. We are not a laboratory. We do not conduct controlled testing of every product, and we do not claim to. Our recommendations are informed by product specifications, the published evidence on what actually wakes people, and the pattern of long-run independent user feedback — and we describe trade-offs rather than pretending anything is perfect.
Prices and availability
Any price shown on this site is indicative and was accurate at the time of writing. Prices change constantly, and we cannot keep them current in real time. The price shown on the retailer's site at the moment you check out is the price that applies. Availability, specifications, packaging and product versions may also change without notice. Always confirm details on the retailer's page before buying.
You are never obliged to use our links
Nothing on this site requires you to buy anything, and nothing requires you to use our links if you do. You are entirely free to search for any product we mention and buy it directly. Everything on this site — every tool, every guide — remains completely free and fully functional whether you ever click an affiliate link or not.
If you do use our links, thank you. That is what funds the tools.
